Terms and Conditions of the IKEA Second-hand Service

These terms and conditions set out the principles governing the submission of buy back IKEA products for Pre-Assessment under IKEA Turkey’s IKEA Second-hand Service and their subsequent purchase by IKEA Turkey, should they be deemed suitable. Your statutory rights remain unaffected.

How does the IKEA Second-hand Service work?

Through our IKEA Second-hand Service, we help you extend the life of your IKEA products. We buy back your used IKEA products that are deemed suitable for return, in exchange for an IKEA Return Voucher. Subsequently, we offer products deemed suitable for resale in the ‘Bargain Corner’ sections of our stores. This allows someone else to give our products a second life at an affordable price.

To take part in the programme, you must check your product using the Pre-Assessment Calculator on our website or mobile app and complete the steps on the screen.

The amount stated in the pre-assessment result is an estimate only. It does not constitute a commitment that IKEA Turkey will purchase the product or buy it back at that price.

You must bring your product to the IKEA Turkey store you selected in your application within 7 days of the Preliminary Assessment date. If you are unable to bring it within this period, you will need to submit a new Preliminary Assessment application. Following the Final Assessment at the store, the product may be deemed unsuitable for buy back, or the Final Buyback Price may differ from the estimated price stated in the Preliminary Assessment result.

If we do not accept your product for buy back, it will be returned to you. Where applicable, recycling or safe disposal options may also be offered,however, these options will only be implemented with your approval.

If your product is deemed eligible for buy back and you accept the stated Final Byback Price, the Second-Hand Product Purchase Agreement and the Product Handover and Final Assessment Form will be signed. This amount will be paid via a Return Voucher issued in your name.

The Return Voucher is valid indefinitely and can only be used for purchases of furniture and accessories in physical IKEA Turkey stores. It cannot be used in the online shop, the Restaurant, the Swedish Food Market, the Swedish Bistro or at the Delivery/Assembly counters. You can see the rates that may apply depending on the condition of the products in the table below.

Pricing structure

Nihai Geri Alım Bedeli, ürünün güncel satış fiyatı ve mağazada belirlenen durumu esas alınarak aşağıdaki oranlara göre belirlenir:

New/Unopened: Unused product in its original, unopened packaging – 60 per cent of the current retail price

As Good as New: A product with all functions working perfectly and a cosmetic condition of 10/10 – 40 per cent of the current retail price

Good Condition: A product with all functions working and a cosmetic condition of approximately 7/10 – 30 per cent of the current retail price.

Worn: A product with functional defects that can be repaired, and a cosmetic condition of between approximately 5/10 and 7/10 – 20 per cent of the current retail price

Recyclable: Products with functional defects that cannot be repaired, or whose cosmetic condition is deemed unsuitable for resale, may be excluded from the buy-back scheme or the buy-back value may be set at 0 per cent.

Whenever possible, we recycle products we buy back that are unsuitable for resale; where necessary, we dispose of them safely.

Product quality and condition for resale

Our aim is to find a new home for your products and to ensure that second-hand products purchased by other customers are of high quality. As part of this service, we assess selected IKEA products featured on the current list of eligible products. Products must be clean, hygienic and safe; they must not contain any breakages or damage that could endanger customer safety. Used products must be brought in with all their parts and fully assembled, whilst new/unopened products must be in their original, unopened packaging. You must be the owner of the product or authorised to transfer it to IKEA Turkey, and the product must be free of any third-party rights attached to the product.

The product must bear the original IKEA product label and must be verifiable as an IKEA product. If the product has been repaired or a part replaced, this must be declared before Assesment Processes finalized; any parts used for the replacement or repair must be IKEA products or original IKEA parts.
We cannot accept accessory parts on their own; you must bring them together with the product to which they belong.

For example, we do not accept lids without the frame to which they are to be fitted. You must provide accurate and complete information regarding the product’s condition, including any damage and missing parts; you must not leave any personal belongings, documents or personal data inside the product.

In case of hidden defects that could not be identified during the in-store inspection, or the subsequent discovery of any misrepresentations, IKEA Turkey reserves the rights to cancel the Return Voucher set out in the Agreement to be signed if it has not been used, or to demand the refund of the Buy-Back Amount and claim compensation for damages if it has been used.

Selected products we accept

You can find the selected IKEA products eligible for assessment under this service in the up-to-date list of eligible products within the Preliminary Assessment Calculation Tool. A Preliminary Assessment application can only be created for products listed in this tool.

Products we cannot accept

Unfortunately, we are currently unable to accept products in the categories listed below. However, we are always looking for new opportunities to improve our services, so please do check back in the future.

• Products without an original IKEA product label or where the product cannot be verified as an IKEA product,
• Products subject to a recall or deemed unsuitable for safe use,
• Products unsuitable for resale due to hygiene or safety reasons, textile products, carpets, mattresses, beds, bed frames and armchairs, as well as products posing a hygiene or safety risk due to contact with food,
• Lighting and electronic products,
• Glass products not eligible for return, mirrors (excluding full-length standing mirrors), boxes and similar products deemed unsuitable due to their textile content,
• Multi-part open-plan combination systems and combination products such as IVAR and BROR; furniture containing solid wood, seasonal/collection items, furniture containing cork material, and galvanised products posing a risk of rust,
• Painted or otherwise modified products, and products repaired using parts other than IKEA products or original IKEA parts,
• Used products brought in disassembled form and individual complementary parts offered separately from a product, excluding new/packaged products in their original, unopened packaging,
• Products with an EDS date of 2018 or earlier in IKEA’s records that are not eligible for return, as well as certain metal panels and metal/plastic boxes deemed unsuitable due to the risk of scratches or missing parts.

Who is eligible for the IKEA Second-hand Service?

This service is intended for individuals who have purchased the product for personal use and do not sell it as part of commercial or professional activities. Product sales made on behalf of companies or as part of ongoing commercial activities are excluded from this service. You may be asked to provide your ID and contact details in-store to complete the sale and arrange the necessary documentation.
