"When I designed the glass scented candle holder for IKEA, I wanted to make it so beautiful that people would not want to discard it after the candle burns out. I hope people will think that the holder is so beautiful that they’ll want to keep it even after the candle burns out – and reuse it in new ways. For me as a designer, sustainability is not only about better materials and processes, but also about the longevity of a product. The idea when I designed the ceramic scented candle holder for IKEA was that the timeless properties of the material would help make the simple item special. I hope people will think that the holder is so beautiful that they’ll want to keep it even after the candle burns out – and reuse it in new ways for a long time."
